What Guests Say

Lounge or bar in The Bulls Head

This was exceptional accommodation. There was ample parking specifically for hotel guests, which it did not say on the website. The owners were friendly and helpful. Two of us have to be gluten free, which they understood and accommodated easily. The breakfast was wonderful and we had an evening meal too, which was good value and tasty. There were lots of food options for gluten free and vegetarians. The rooms themselves could not have been better. The beds were so comfortable and clearly good quality. It could not have been a better place to stay. Milnthorpe is lovely and interesting.

Compared to where I’d stayed 5 nights previously I thought the staff were so friendly on arrival, this makes a difference when travelling alone, I felt welcome. I got shown to my room, instead of being directed. The room was very accommodating with en suite bathroom and room to manoeuvre round the bed, the bed was so comfy so I had really good nights sleep. I came down to have bite to eat during the evening, there were locals and tourists in the bar and restaurant areas, again I was made very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I hadn’t realised breakfast was included, big bonus and was very appetising. I will definately be back.

Friendly staff, location is not too far from the M6. We required an overnighter on our way from Inverness to London and this fit the bill perfectly. Whilst outside the Lake District, it could arguably be used as a base to visit it although it would entail some to and fro. Has dedicated parking which is adequate. Nice reasonably priced pub within the hotel. The building itself has a long history and a nice feel about it. There is a large SPAR and Booths within walking distance and a gas station right next door. Breakfast was good. Overall, good value and a nice stay. Would recommend.

The property is on the A6 up to the Lakes. It is an old property, with history. It's not modern but has everything we needed. There is no lift so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with mobility issues, on saying that we are in our 70s and we managed. The Staff in the Hotel.are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is cooked fresh and is one of the best we have had on our travels. We stayed for two nights and had dinner both nights, the food was so very good.. On leaving, my husband said "we'll come back" and we will. Great value for the price.

Ideal for family Memorial Service in local village close by. Good meals suited all 4 of us in pub - shared with friends who live 14 miles away. Lovely staff very helpful kind and cheerful and very efficient. Comfy bed.

We were attending a family funeral, so the location was excellent for this. Room was clean and bed was comfortable with extra pillows available. There was also an extra radiator in the room for cold evenings. Bottle of water in the room along with tea, coffee etc. We had an evening meal downstairs, with other members of the family, which was excellent, tasty and plenty of food on the plates. The open fire was a bonus too!

I cannot praise the owner and staff enough for a wonderful weekend, we were made very welcome as soon as we arrived, and throughout our stay, making sure we were comfortable, reserving a table next to the roaring fire each night, informing us of local walks and places of interest. The food was plentiful and excellent value and quality, the local ales also a treat. Sally the owner was very friendly and caring, and Shane behind the bar even lent us his darts ! The rooms were very comfortable, and the building itself so full of character. The breakfast room was bright and you can have any combination of breakfast food you required, even pancakes, all very well presented and made freshly to order. The lounge and bar area were very warm and inviting , exactly as a village pub should be, two roaring fires, good ales, and comfortable seating. As you can imagine, we will certainly return to this hidden gem only 4 miles off the M6, yet with good links to Lancaster on the south , and the lakes to the north, if we can drag ourselves away from the fire!

Nice room and bar and evening meals were great. Shane was really nice, great asset to the Bulls Head with his personality. The ladies were all nice and friendly too. The lady cook at breakfast was so accommodating and our cooked breakfast was superb. Thank you. We will be back.

Enjoyed a lovely stay at The Bulls Head Inn after a lot of travelling by car. I was made to feel very welcome by the staff on a very stormy night (Storm Ashley). The staff very kindly put my table for supper by the roaring log fire. The food certainly exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed everything. My room was small, cosy, clean and just what I needed for one night on my travels. A very hearty breakfast in the morning set me up for the day very nicely indeed. Thank you.
